Time Management Tips, Tools & Techniques


This workshop aims to improve participants’ ability to effectively manage their time and personal and work priorities. Participants will increase their efficiency by learning practical strategies for improving the effectiveness of their goal setting, meetings, networking, delegation, contingency planning and use of email and other technology. They will also learn strategies for dealing with procrastination, common time wasters, interruptions and information overload. 

Participants will be introduced to a variety of time management tools and techniques including time logs, to do lists, action plans, scheduling and assertive communication strategies, in order to understand and utilise their work time to greater effect. 

At the end of this workshop, participants should be able to demonstrate initiative in effectively prioritising and responding to competing demands to achieve personal, team and organisational goals and objectives.


After completing this course, students will gain the skills to:

  • ensure their personal work and planning serve as a positive role model in the workplace
  • align their personal priorities with broader role and organisational priorities, and underpin them with key productivity drivers such as goal setting, scheduling, action planning, contingency planning and delegation
  • develop effective work goals and objectives for themselves using the SMART goal setting criteria
  • take the initiative to effectively prioritise and respond to competing demands to achieve personal, team and organisational goals and objectives
  • utilise a range of time management tools and techniques, including time logs, to do lists, action plans, prioritising, contingency planning and assertive communication in order to understand and use their work time to greater effect
  • identify tasks suitable for delegation and utilise a process to effectively delegate them, when appropriate
  • identify procrastination and a range of other common time wasters, and employ strategies to overcome them
  • understand how time of day effects their productivity and plan work tasks accordingly
  • identify and use a range of strategies for effectively managing interruptions
  • better manage their email, meetings, use of technology, and other sources of information overload.
