If you are getting ready for a career as an entry-level information technology (IT) professional or personal computer (PC) service technician, the courses in theCompTIA® A+® Certification 2006 series are the first step in your preparation. The courses in this series will build on your existing user-level knowledge and experience with personal computer software and hardware to present fundamental skills and concepts that you will use on the job. In this series of courses, you will acquire the essential skills and information you will need to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, and perform preventative maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems. In Part 6: Laptops and Printers, you will learn the skills needed to support laptops, portable computing devices, printers, and scanners.The courses in theCompTIA® A+® Certification 2006 series can benefit you in two ways. Whether you work or plan to work in a mobile or corporate environment where you have a high-level of face-to-face customer interaction; a remote-based environment where client interaction, client training, operating systems, and connectivity issues are emphasized; or an environment with limited customer interaction and an emphasis on hardware activities, this series of courses provides the background knowledge and skills you will require to be successful. It can also assist you if you are preparing to take the CompTIA A+ certification examinations, 2006 objectives (exam numbers 220-601, 220-602, 220-603, and 220-604), in order to become a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional.

Objectives:

  • In the CompTIA® A+® Certification 2006 series of courses, you will install, upgrade, repair, configure, optimize, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on basic personal computer hardware and operating systems. In this sixth course in the series, you will learn how to support portable computing devices, printers, and scanners.

  • Processor Macintosh Intel-based or PowerPC G4 (or better)
  • RAM 512 MB (1 GB or more recommended)
  • Internet connection 256K (broadband recommended)
  • Adobe Flash Player 8 (current version recommended)
  • Adobe Reader 7 (or higher)
  • Other requirements may apply to supplemental offline activities. Omitting these optional activities does not affect course completion.
