Description:

In this 2-hour course you will learn how to develop connection capabilities in Windows Mobile-based applications by using HTTP, Web services, and message queuing. In the lab you will asynchronously call a Web service and retrieve a Web page. Additionally you will retrieve headers and cookies from a Web page.
This course will also help you prepare for Exam 70-540: TS: Microsoft® Windows Mobile - Application Development.

Student prerequisites:

  • Visual Studio 2005 (1 year)
  • .NET Framework / .NET Compact Framework. (1-2 years)
  • Visual Basic .NET or C# (1-2 years)
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server 2000/2005 (1 year)
  • Enterprise application development (1 year)
  • Smart Device development using Visual Studio 2005 (recommended)

 

Objectives:

  • Exchange data with a Web Page from a mobile application by using HTTP.
  • Call a Web service from a mobile application.
  • Send and receive messages from a mobile device by using Message Queuing.
  • Describe some of the advanced techniques for communicating with mobile devices.
