Deploying and Configuring Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server 2007 (5251)


In this online learning course, you will build on your fundamental knowledge of MOSS 2007 and will learn how to plan and deploy MOSS 2007 solutions. Additionally, you will learn how to upgrade a SharePoint Portal Server 2003 installation to MOSS 2007. Finally, you will learn how to manage user access and site permissions. This course also helps prepare you for certification exam 70-630.

Student Prerequisites:

  • Have completed (or equivalent knowledge / experience): 5403AE - Implementing Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
  • Have on-the-job experience implementing, managing, and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003, including Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Have working knowledge of networking, for example, TCP/IP and Domain Name System (DNS).
  • Have basic knowledge of key benefits of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), new features and functionality of MOSS, and WSS 3.0 acting as a platform for MOSS.



  • Describe the deployment models, deployment environments, server roles, scalability options, and installation requirements for deploying MOSS 2007.
  • Install MOSS 2007.
  • Describe the various upgrade methods, special upgrading cases, and best practices involved in the planning for an upgrade from SPS 2003 to MOSS 2007.
  • Describe the pre-upgrade tasks, steps in different upgrade methods, post-upgrade tasks, and the role of the CMS assessment tool in upgrading from SPS 2003 to MOSS 2007.
  • Describe the various site templates, how to create a site collection, and how to manage the features available in MOSS 2007.
  • Manage user accounts, user groups, and site permissions.
