Conventional telephony is gradually being replaced by voice over IP (VoIP) that carries the voice traffic over data networks. VoIP allows both voice and data traffic to move on the same infrastructure, which allows VoIP to integrate with the existing telephone networks. It provides innovative services not available in conventional telephone networks, such as videoconferencing and other IP network services, all with significant cost-savings for a customer.
