Managing File Systems course (WS-2390) provides students with information about / (root) subdirectories and file components. The course explains how to use hard links, basic disk architecture, and naming conventions for devices; and how to list devices, partition and repartition a disk, manage disk labels, and reconfigure devices. The course describes the Solaris(TM) Management Console and the Solaris(TM) Operating Environment (Solaris OE) directory hierarchy. The course also explains how to create a new ufs file system, check the file system using the fsck command, resolve file system inconsistencies, and monitor system usage. Finally, the course explains how to mount and unmount file systems, access mounted diskettes and CD-ROMs, and restrict access to mounted diskettes and CD-ROMs.
