Description:

In this 2-hour course you will learn how to optimize, package and deploy a Windows Mobile-based application. Topics in the course include debugging mobile device appliactions, tuning mobile device memory usage and performance, and creating deployment CAB packages. In the lab you will sign, package and deploy a Windows Mobile 5.0 application using the emulator. You will also use remote tools to validate that the application was properly installed.
This course will also help you prepare for Exam 70-540: TS: Microsoft® Windows Mobile - Application Development.

Student prerequisites:

  • Microsoft Visual Studio® 2005 (1 year)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework / .NET Compact Framework. (1-2 years)
  • Microsoft Visual Basic® .NET or C# (1-2 years)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000/2005 (1 year)
  • Enterprise application development (1 year)
  • Smart Device development using Visual Studio 2005 (recommended)

 

Objectives:

  • Measure and tune the memory usage and system performance of a mobile device.
  • Sign a Windows Mobile–based application by using strong-name signing and certificates.
  • Package and deploy a Windows Mobile–based application.
  • Develop and debug mobile device applications by using the remote tools in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
