This two-hour course helps you plan and perform preparation tasks fordeploying Windows 7 on client computers. It also covers the volumeactivation options available for Windows 7.

This course helps you prepare for the Exam 70-686, Pro: Windows 7,Enterprise Desktop Administrator.

The prerequisites for this course are as follows:

Ability to install and configure Windows 7 clients

Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, networking concepts, and ActiveDirectory

Familiarity with administration, management, deployment,packaging, and imaging tools

Ability to work in a team, create proposals, and make budgetrecommendations



Describe the client, hardware, and desktop deployment life cycles.

Explain the challenges involved and considerations for deploying desktops.

Describe the tools and technologies that are used in the desktop deployment lifecycle.

Assess the current computing environment to determine the feasibility of deploying Windows 7.

Design the licensing and activation strategy for a given business scenario.

Hardware and Software Required:

To view this course, you need:

1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor with at least 1 GB of system memory

Microsoft® Windows® Vista SP1 or higher

Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher

Macromedia Flash 7.0 or higher (1MB disk space needed to install)

Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher

Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 or higher

A Super VGA monitor with minimum screen resolution 1024x768, with 16-bit color.

A sound card, and either speakers or headphones (for multi-media audio).

Internet bandwidth of 56K or faster. Broadband internet access is recommended.

For courses containing Hyper-V Server-based labs you will need:

Microsoft RDP Client Wrapper ActiveX control (1MB disk space needed to install). For the first time, the user is prompted for RDP Client Wrapper ActiveX control installation. On following the instructions the RDP Client Wrapper ActiveX control is installed.

CredSSP policy settings should be enabled on the client machine. (For more information on CredSSP click here.) For enabling CredSSP policy settings, please follow the manual steps provided here. Please do not try the “Microsoft Fix it” option for any other Operating System other than Windows Server 2008.

Port 2179 should be opened for the destination IP of the host while connecting via internet. This needs to be enabled on Corp / ISP firewall. On the client machine, it should be ensured that the Outbound Connection via port 2179 is not blocked by firewall. For enabling port 2179 on Corp / ISP firewall, please contact your System Administrator.
