Performing XML Operations on Disconnected Data with Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 (4256)

Description:

This 2-hour workshop focuses on designing data-driven Web applications that utilize XML with Visual Studio 2005. It covers how to retrieve data from the database as XML as well as how to convert in-memory data to and from XML.

You will learn how to read and write data only, schema only, or a combination of the two. You will also learn how to read and write a DataSet as a DiffGram, so that modifications to the data can be retained when the DataSet is serialized to XML format.

As a workshop, most of your learning will take place during the extensive lab.

ATTENTION: Depending on your subscription, the Virtual Labs (vLabs) for this course may not be available. If the Virtual Labs do not launch when you click the launch button, contact your company Training Administrator for more information about your subscription.

Objectives:

  • Describe scenarios in which you can represent a dataset as XML data and explain saving and loading XML data and dataset schema information.
  • Save and load a dataset with XML data and save and load dataset schema information.
