Beginning Perl


Introduction

This three-day course provides the student with an introduction to the Perl programming language. After completing this course, students will be able to create basic Perl scripts.

Prerequisites 

Programming experience in a structured language, such as C, C++, Java, or COBOL, is strongly recommended.

Outcomes

At the completion of this course, participants will have a better understanding of:

  • handling numbers and strings
  • reading input while and until loops
  • using variables
  • advanced input and output
  • pattern matching versus wildcards
  • conditional expressions
  • flow control
  • Perl utilities
  • file-system and process control
  • functions.
