Fundamentals of UNIX

Course Description

This four-day hands-on course provides users with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively use UNIX. In this course, students will learn about the full range of UNIX user commands and utilities and how to develop shell scripts and advance their vi editing skills. This is also a first course for system administrators and programmers who are new to UNIX and Linux.

On completion of the course, students will have a better understanding of:

  • what is UNIX
  • UNIX file systems
  • the cd command – Change Directory
  • editing With vi
  • personal utilities
  • text handling utilities
  • file system security
  • file system management utilities
  • shell programming concepts
  • flow control
  • UNIX processes.
