Q. Why is the MOC On-Demand course offering being retired?

A. Last September at Ignite, Microsoft announced an evolved approach to the Microsoft professional certification and training. This approach included the launch of our digital skilling platform, Microsoft Learn, and new role-based certifications. Our approach shifted from technology-centric to job role–centric, focused on     developing the skills you need to advance in an accelerated—and increasingly competitive—cloud-based world.

Microsoft have received great feedback that helped make their certifications and training as relevant as possible. Microsoft continue to engage with customers and partners to understand the market needs. Part of this approach is also to simplify the training journey and to consolidate the training offerings and learning platforms.

Q. What is MOC On-Demand?

A. Microsoft Official Courses On-Demand (MOC On-Demand) is a self-paced online offering sold through the Learning Partner channel. It blends video, text, hands-on labs, and knowledge checks to help build Microsoft technology skills. Students can consume individually, at their own pace, or as part of a blended learning experience with the equivalent MOC instructor-led training (ILT) course in a classroom. MOC On-Demand offerings of 90-day and 180-day durations have been available for Learning Partners to purchase through Courseware Marketplace. After the course is activated, the learner has either 90 days or 180 days to complete it, depending on which duration they have purchased.

Q. What is happening to MOC On-Demand course offerings?

A. MOC On-Demand courses will no longer be orderable through Courseware Marketplace after the following dates:

• The 180-day course offerings: June 28, 2019

• The 90-day course offerings: December 30, 2019]

There is no change to any courses purchased prior to these dates. This means that any course and associated hosted labs purchased prior to these dates will continue to be supported through their license key activation and student use period. The final student use expiry date for all courses that are not already retired will be September 30, 2020.

Q. Will packaged sets of digital MOC and MOC On-Demand be retiring at the same time?

A. Yes, they will be retiring at the same time

Q. Can a user earn a certificate of completion if they don’t finish the MOC On-Demand course by the time it retires?

A. No. To earn a certificate of completion, the user needs to complete the MOC On-Demand course within the timeframe of course access (90 days or 180 days), regardless of when the course is no longer orderable on Courseware Marketplace.

Q. I recently purchased MOC On-Demand courseware. Can I return it?

A. No, you cannot return recently purchased MOC On-Demand courseware. This announcement is being made more than a year in advance of when MOC On-Demand courses will no longer be supported, and no refunds will be extended.

Q. I recently purchased MOC On-Demand courseware. How long will I be able to redeem it?

A. For all MOC On-Demand courses, you have 180 days (six months) to redeem the course license key and either 90 days or 180 days to complete the course, depending on which version you purchased.

Q. Can I still access the MOC On-Demand bookshelf, progress reports, and any course completion certificates?

A. Access to the MOC On-Demand bookshelf, progress reports, and any course completion certificates will continue until September 30, 2020.

Q. Will I be able to come back and access my previously earned certificate of completion after the MOC OnDemand has retired?

A. You will still be able to access progress reports and previously earned certificates of completion even after the courses are no longer orderable from Courseware Marketplace and until the final student use expiry date for the course (September 30, 2020) has been reached. After a course has reached its final student use expiry date, it will be removed from Skillpipe, and access to previously earned courses completion certificates, progress reports, or the bookshelf will not be possible.

Please print your progress reports and certificates prior to the final course expiry date, so you have copies of them in your records. Microsoft will not keep historical progress reports or certificate records after September 30, 2020.
