Agile Project Management Foundation


Audience and learning outcomes

The course has no pre-requisites. However, it is aimed at those with some experience of working within a project environment (e.g. team leaders, business analysts, change managers, project support).

You will learn:

  • the principles and concepts of an Agile approach
  • how an Agile project is managed
  • an Agile project lifecycle this is a useful introduction into the world of Agile project management.

The course objectives are:

  • prepare candidates for the AgilePM Foundation exam
  • give a high level overview of what Agile is and how to use AgilePM to create the necessary links to normal corporate standards such Business Cases and demonstrating control.

This is achieved by working through the AgilePM

  • philosophy
  • principles
  • roles
  • practices
  • success factors
  • planning.

The course approach is to stay at a high level, but there is plenty of practical discussion.

Course materials – what you receive 

  • a 20 pages overview of Agile Project Management, emailed upon confirmation of course booking.
  • includes sample Foundation style questions.
  • a copy of the official textbook “Agile Project Management Handbook”.
  • our “Portable Agile Project Management” pocket guide.
  • copies of all slides with additional notes.
  • two white papers including one on combining Agile with PRINCE2
  • sample exam questions provided by the APM Group, the administrators of Agile Project Management.
  • the Agile Project Management Foundation Exam.

Pre-course Preparation 

Candidates are required to read pre-reading material, (approximately two-three hours) including an overview of Agile Project Management and sample Foundation exam questions. This is emailed to participants upon booking a place.

Each day will start promptly at 9:00 am and finish no later than 5:00 pm. The exam is at the end of the third day. 

Course Requirements

This course is open to anyone with an interest in Agile Project Management. 

Foundation exam 

All Agile Project Management exams are provided by the APM Group. The Foundation exam is a 40 minutes, closed book, and multiple choice exam. The pass mark is 50%. The exam is taken at the end of the third day.  

Public and Private Course

Advanced Training maintains a regular schedule of Foundation and Practitioner courses across the year. We are also able to arrange in house private courses for organisations who are looking for flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to explore options outside the normal Foundation/Practitioner course structure.
